This example is available in Miloco's Ironworks Studio, Brighton and consists of factory issue sizes and is fitted with Pre International Remo Coated Ambassador heads.
The drums respond well to tuning which means they work equally well as a Jazz, Funk, Rock or in this case, Reggae kit. The drums used a 5-ply Maple wood construction that gave them their mid-range tonality. Musicians from the Dixieland movement first embraced their drums and then later were used by swing drummers in the 40’s and 50’s and later by the classic rock musicians of the 60’s and 70’s. Mike has also recorded some Electronic Percussion using a Boss PC-2 Percussion Synthesizer and a Tama Techstar TS-204.An Irish immigrant from Dublin named Joseph Rogers founded the Rogers Drum Company in 1849. Percussion for this kit includes a 14” Timbale drum and a set of Bongos. The cymbals used were 15' Zildjian A Sweet Hi-Hats and a 17' A Custom Crash. It comprises a 24' x 14' Bass Drum, a Ludwig Black Magic 14” x 6.5' Snare Drum, a Ludwig Acrolite 14” x 5” Snare Drum, a huge 18' x 16' Floor Tom, and two Rack Toms, a 14' x 10' and a 13” x 8”. The Rogers “Big R” Dub kit is a classic Reggae sounding kit with a white finish.
